1 Join or come along: meet locals who want to give effectively, together.
2 Learn together: global needs, and the effective charities working to meet them.
3 Shortlist: members consider the options and narrow the list.

4 Vote: members vote on which charity receives the pooled donation over dinner.
5 Give: final vote + live tally + we donate big (tax-deductible)

Do I have to pledge money before coming to an event?
No. You are welcome to come to an event first, hear the idea, and ask questions before deciding.
What kinds of charities will be considered?
GiveGlobal Adelaide focuses on high-impact evidence-backed charities that save or improve lives.
We start with charities recommended by credible effective giving evaluators and platforms, including GiveWell, The Life You Can Save, and Giving What We Can.
We then focus on options that are practical for Australian donors to support, including through tax-deductible pathways such as The Life You Can Save Australia and Effective Altruism Australia. See the resources above for our initial ‘long list’.
What is a giving circle?
A giving circle is a group of people who give together. Members pool their giving, learn about options, and vote on where the donation goes.
How much is the pledge?
In our founding year, membership starts with a pledge of $200. Members are welcome to pledge more, but every member has one equal vote. Higher pledges increase the total directed to the chosen charity, not voting power.
How does GiveGlobal pool the money?
In 2026, GiveGlobal will not hold the money directly.
Members will pledge first, then make their donation directly through Australian tax-deductible giving pathways after the final vote.
This keeps the first year simple, transparent, and low-admin.
Who chooses the charity?
Members vote.
GiveGlobal prepares a shortlist of evidence-backed charities, members learn about the options, and the final recipient is chosen by member vote.
Is my donation tax-deductible?
Yes. One of our aims is for members to donate through Australian tax-deductible pathways where available.
Do I need to know much about effective giving?
No.
The whole point is to make it easier to learn together. Skeptics welcome.
Is GiveGlobal a charity?
GiveGlobal Adelaide is a local giving circle, not a separate charity collecting funds in 2026.
Members donate directly to a charity through the chosen tax-deductible pathway after the vote.
Can I donate to a different charity?
The group vote decides the shared recipient, but members are free (encouraged!) to give beyond their pledge to any charity they choose.
